Matthew Meigs is a photographer and filmmaker living in Providence, Rhode Island. Matthew has a documentary approach to his filmmaking that stems from his photography, and a love for experimental media. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with degrees in film media and writing and rhetoric. Growing up, skateboarding culture introduced Matthew to a world of photography, filmmaking, music, artists, mental and physical perseverance. It developed into a personal obsession and exploration of analog photography and as an undergraduate, Matthew discovered that filmmaking is the crossroads between all his interests at once.
Matthew has had a well rounded experience in production with large crews or no crew, having worked as a director, director of photography, camera operator, assistant camera, sound recordist, and actor in various student and low budget narrative, and documentary productions. He has scored his own films, (The World We Live In) and currently writes, records, and performs original music. He has also been a featured photographer on the URI website. (Photo by Denis Semenyaka)
